CORRESP ONDENCE.
THE LUNATIC ASYLUM, TO THE EDITOR OF THE STAB.
Sir, — I was glad to see a letter in your paper the other day about the above institution, and I hope the Government will ree the necessity of repressing Mr h'eager's exuberant " puffery " of himself.
There is another matter I would like to say a word or two about in connection with the Asylum. Entertainments are frequently held there, and lotß of people are invited by the Steward to attend. Those of a morbid tendency like this sort of thing, and the attendance, lam told, is usually numerous. But what about the friends of the unfortunate inmates ? How do they like these frequentlyrecurring parades of the patients in whom they are interested ? How do Mr A. and alibis family feel when they read that poor D., a relative and inmate of the Asylum, has been trotted out for the glorification of the Steward and all his works ? I am of opinion, and am not singular in that opinion, that the Asylum should, as your correspondent " Observer " said, do its work quietly. Your obodient servant,
ANTI-HUMBUG.
