each sending in an offer to the Board to keep the bridle-path in repair for one year. ' The offer of Gilbert was accepted for £110. Messrs Simmons and Dixon had an interview with the Board relative to the repairs required at the swing bridge, when it was arranged that they should do the whole of the labour specified, without any stoppage of day traffic, for the sum of £72 10a. Mr M'Namara offered to cart earth from the city drain on roads near Olliyier'a road at tne cost of cartage only. The Board would give an answer next day. Mr Farland offered to cart unbroken metal from the cutting to any part of Ferry road, at 2s 3d per yard. The offer was deferred for future consideration. An offer was made on behalf of the Church of England Cemetery, to purchase 150 yards of screenings at 63. per yard. It was resolved to reply, that the Board have none to spare at present. It was reported that a hedge belonging to Mr F. Brittan, was standing three feet on Buckley's road ; and as the road wa3 now being formed, the Clerk was directed to request Mr Brittan to remove it without delay. Orders for the following works were given : — Repairing Dyer's road ; screening gravel for Avonside road ; breaking metal for Hill's road ; gravelling parts of Cemetery and Eiver road ; gravelling part of Matheson's road, and Aid win's road ; specification for bridge at the Quay. The Clerk asked for sundry improvements in the office and premises — such as fire-proof safe, register stove, office painting (inside and out), artesian well, copying press, &c, &c, all of which were granted. Numerous complaints having been madej respecting the disgraceful manner in which the city night soil is left exposed on the reserve at the Sandhills, and the unbearable stench arising therefrom, the Clerk was directed to write to the City Council and request them to remedy the nuisance without delay. The Clerk reported that since last meeting he had received and paid into the Bank £89 13s 6d. , Accounts amounting to £79 83 4d were passed for payment. The overdraft was £201 3s 9d. The Board then adjourned until Friday, the 4fch April, which is to be a special meeting for receiving tenders.
