. [Per Greville's Telegram Company, Retjter's Agents.l Blenheim, May 1, 10.27 a.m. The ship Malay was on fire in Port Underwood, at four o'clock yesterday afternoon. It is believed to be extinguished, but no particulars are known. Dunedin, May 1, 4.48 p.m. It is proposed to give a banquet to the officers of the Nevada, to celebrate the inauguration of the service. A horrible tragedy occurred at Caversham this morning. A woman named M'Phee, the wife of a publican, cut her child's throat with a butcher's knife. She then attempted suicide, and is not expected to recover. It appears that her husband's partner, named Kane, had committed a capital offence upon her, which had preyed on her mind. A 'warrant has been issued for Kane's apprehension.
