It is believed to be extinguished, but no particulars are known. Dunedin, May 1, 4.48 p.m. It is proposed to give a banquet to the officers of the Nevada, to celebrate the inauguration of the service. A horrible tragedy occurred at Caversham this morning. A woman named M'Phee, the wife of a publican, cut her child's throat with a butcher's knife. She then attempted suicide, and is not expected to recover. It appears that her husband's partner, named Kane, had committed a capital offence upon her, which had preyed on her mind. A 'warrant has been issued for Kane's apprehension.
