Exceeding half-an-ounce, and not exceeding one ounce 2s. And so on, increasing two shillings for every additional ounce or fraction of an ounce. To India, China and the Eastern Archipelago.. Letters addressed to any part of India, Hongkong, Penang, Singapore, and any part of China or Japan, the Phillipine Islands, Java, Sumatra, Borneo, Labuan, the Moluccas, and Siam, are chargeable as follows : — Not exceeding half-an-ounce ... Is. Exceeding half-an-ounce, aud not exceeding one ounce ... 2s. And so on, increasing two shillings for every additional ounce or fraction of an ounce. Correspondence for Belgium, for transmission by the Suez route, may in future be addressed to be sent via Brindisi direct, and that the correspondence for Belgium so directed must for the present be enclosed in the mail made up for the British Post-office at Alexandria. The rates of postage to be collected in New Zealand on such correspondence will pay for its conveyance as far only as Alexandria. These rates are as follows : — For a Letter — Not exceeding \ ounce ... 6d. Every additional J ounce ... 6d. For each Newspaper Id. For a Book or Pattern ParcelNot exceeding 4 ounces ... 4d. 4 ounces to 8 ounces Bd. Every additional 8 ounces ... Bd. The weight of pattern parcels must not exceed 8 ounces.) » To Naval Officers on Foreign Stations. Letters addressed to officers serving on board any of her Majesty's ships on a foreign station, when sent through the United Kingdom, are chargeable as follows :— • Same as the general public. POST-OFFICE SAVINGS BANK AND MONEY ORDERS, AND GOVERNMENT ANNUITIES AND INSUR ANCE. Offices at Christcburch, Lyttelton, Kaiapoi, Titnaru, Temuka, Waimate, Kowai, Akaroa, and Selwyn open from 9 a.m. till 4 p.m. The commission charged on Money Order. issued within New Zealand is as follows v— For any sum Not exceeding £5 6d Not exceeding £io Is Od On the Australian Colonies — For any sum not exceeding £5 Is Od Above £5 and not exceeding £10 2s Od And on the United Kingdom the charges are — For sums not exceeding £2, Is Od „ „ £% 2&6 d £7, 3s 6d : £10, 58 Od No single order issued for a larger amount than £10. Full information as to form of application for a Money Order, &c, will be supplied to the public on application at any Money Order Office. The Government, through the agency of the Post-office, grant Annuities, immediate or deferred, Life Insurance, &c, &c.
