Feb. 4— Canterbury, schooner, 75 tons, Buxton, from Greymouth. SAILED. Feb. 4— Merope, ship, Rose, for London. IMPORTS. In the Lord Ashley, J. D. Macpherson, agent. For Timaru: 1 bale leather, Harker. For Lyttelton : 60 sash weights, 1 length chain, 1 barrel, Hawkins; 1 bale, Roach, 1 case, Dunkerley; 1 case, Thomson. In the Canterbury, C. W. Turner, agent: 137 kegs butter. Order; 1 case effects, A. H. Staveley.
There was no sign of the ss. Maori when our express left. She will no doubt arrive this evening. Toe ship Merope tripped her anchor at six o'clock this morning. She was towed out to the heads by the ss. Gazelle. A fine breeze sprang up, and by noon she was well clear of the land.
