NEW ZEALAND MANUFACTURES AND PRODUCE.
Judges— Messrs G. Gould, J. Ollivier, J. H. Bennett, J. P. Jameson, H. Hennah, 11. Sawtell, and Sutherland. The Judges, in making their awards, were directed to take into consideration the price at which each article can be supplied in wholesale quantities, and also had discretionary power in all cases to withhold or modity the prizes offered, or recommend additional prizes not mentioned in the list, and likewise deal in other matters not specially provided for. The price at which the article exhibited can be sold in wholesale quantities had to be affixed to the exhibit for the guidance of the Judges.
ALE. ! Imported hope allowed. First and second class medals for the best sample of ale made in New Zealand, from no other saccharine matter than that obtainel from barley grown and malted in tin colony, such ale to be of a quality which the brewer will undertake to supply to the trade at a price not exceeding £6 per hhd . The brewer to whom the award was given had to declare that the above conditions were complied with. Samples in casks of not less than five gallons. S. Stonyer and Co., Ist ; Benn and Walker, 2nd. MALT. Not less than one bushel. Silver Medal. Two entries. F. Innes and Co.; S. Manning and Co. No award. POKTEK. In all respects same conditions as ale. The Flax Association offered a prize of jE3( for the best dressed bale of flax, of not less than 3 owt., and £10 for the second best bale Exhibitors to state cost of production and mode of preparation.
