Dunedin, Nov. 1, 1.47 p.m. The following insurances had been effected on the property destroyed by fire yesterday : — New Zealand, £1670 ; Pacific, £500 ; Australian Alliance, £500 ; London and Lancashire, £500; Victoria, £960 ; in all, £4130. 4.45 p.m. A public meeting called by the Mayor, to consider what steps Bhould be taken to assist in the relief of sufferers by the Lyttelton fire, lapsed ; seven or eight only were in attendance. ■Wellington, Nov. 1, 7.30 p.m. It is rumoured here that Mr Main, M.H.R, is to be the District Judge, at Timaru.
