The ship signalled yesterday afternoon proves to be the William Davie, from Dunedin. Owing to the strong S.W. winds, she was obliged to anchor off the north head last night. This morning she got under weigh again, and beat up the harbour, l^he had not arrived at her anchorage when our express left. She comes to load for London, Messrs Cobb and Sawtell being the agents. The s.s. Taranaki, Captain Wheeler, arrived in harbour this morning at 9.45, from Wellington and Northern ports. She left the wharf, Onehunga, at 1 p.m.fon Oct. 12 ; was off Manukau heads at 5 p.m. same day ; left again in the evening, and arrived at Taranaki at 6 a.m. on Oct. 13 ; left at 9 a.m., and arrived at Nelson at 11 p.m. same day.; left at 1 1 p.m. on Oct. 14, and arrived at Picton at 8 a.m. on Oct. 15 ; left at 9 a.m., and took two of the punts used in raising the Taranaki in tow from Bowton's Bay, and arrived afe' Wellington at 7 p. in on Oct. 15 ; sailed ''at 1.30 p.m. on Oct. 17,' arriving as above ; experienced fine weather during the passage We are indebted to Mr Moss, purser, for files.
