This Evening. Mr Brown to move — It is expedient that in the vote for educational purposes, provision should be made for a grant in aid of the establishment of a superior Female School or Academy. Mr Knioht to more—That a respectful
address be presented to his Honor the Superintendent, requesting him to appoint Thistle Inspectors under the Thistle Act, in any Road Board District, on being recommended to do so by the Road Board of the District. Mr Kenna-wat to move— That in the opiaion of the Council it would have been more conducive to the interests of education if the Government had obtained the opinion of the Board of Education on the Amendment of Education Ordinance, before introducing an amended Act. The Provincial Secketart to move — That leave of absence be granted to Mr Rhodes for six days. Mr Tosswill to move — That a select committee be appointed to consider amendments in Road Board Ordinance, 1869, such committee to consist of Messrs Dixon, Fisher, Delamain, Provincial Solicitor, and the mover; to report in a week. Mr Parker to move — That a committee be appointed to inquire into the state of the main roads throughout the province — to consist of Messrs Mallock, Studholme, Perry, Lee, M. Walker, Delamain, and the mover. Mr Ormsby to move — That his Honor the Superintendent be respectfully requested to place on the supplementary estimates the sum of £1000 for the erection of a bridge over the river Temuka. Mr Hall to move — That the name of the hon. Mr Lee be added to the committee on the Bill to consolidate the laws relating to disease in sheep. The Provincial Secretary to move — That a respectful address be presented to hU Honor the Superintendent, requesting him not to approve of the division of any more Road Board districts until the next session of the Provincial Council.
