♦ Dunediit, Sept 20, 10 a.m. The Chamber of Commerce suggested to the Postmaster- General that the Government should grant a subsidy of £100 to a steamer bringing the next Suez mail from Melbourne. The suggestion was agreed to, on condition that the mail is brought on 15 hours after arrival in Melbourne.
