The schooner Emerald, Captain Withy, arrived to day from Canterbury, with a cargo of wheat for Messrs Kebbell. — Wellington Evening Post, Aug. 13. The Lady Bird, in her new rig of a threemasted schooner, came round to-day from Evans' Bay, looking remarkably smart indeed. We understand she is now ready for sea, and will very shortly sail for Newcastle) under command of Captain Scott, formerly pilot at the Heads.— Wellington Evening Post, Aug. 13. We learn from the driver of CodVs Coach, that the Alarm, trading between Wellington and the Rangitikei river, was driven ashore near the river, on Monday night, during the gale which was blowing then along the coast. The cargo fortunately has all been saved, but we believe the ketch has broken her back. Some hopes are entertained of her being got off, but during this stormy weather nothing can be done. We have not ascertained whether she is insured. — Wanganui Chronicle.
