This Dat. {Before C. C. Bowen, Esq., R.M.), and R. J. S. Harman, Esq. Illegally on Pbemses.— John Daley, on remand, for having forced his way into the residence of Mr E. W. Stoddart, Lichfleld street, but who 'bad refused to give any account of himself, and was accordingly remanded for enquiries to be made by the police, $vas again brpught ( up. , Inspector Pender now said it had been ascertained that accused bad been working during' the past eight months for a Mr Gough, and that he had been drinking if or some time previous to committing the .offence complained of. Prisoner expressed hjs regret for what he had done, and if the^ Bench would deal leniently with him, promised to be more careful in future. His Worship said the Bench hoped the matter would be a warning to prisoner, who evidently appeared not to understand the serious nature of the offence he had been guilty of. He would be fined 40s. Dbunkenness.'j — John Sheenan, charged for the first time with having been drunk and incapable, was dismissed, with a caution. John Patrick was proved, on the evidence of Sergt. Pratt, with having been drunk and riotous at the Central Hotel on Saturday night, and a previous fine for similar conduct being on record against him, he was ordered to pay 20s.— Jane Armstrong was brought up for having been drunk and disorderly, in Armagh street yesterday. Constable- Tlioreau, who arrested her, proved the offence, for which prisoner expressed her contrition, also promising, if the Bench would let her go, to , refrain from drink in future. Inspector informed the Bench that prisoner had -just left her husband, and it was feared that she was going to make a bad start. Prisoner said she would go up country to a situatian at -once. His Worship said, as she had only been a short time out of gaol, and had not i teen up for drunkenness before, the Bench would dismiss the case, but would caution her that she was commencing in a way which would surely have a bad end if not at once stopped. — John Saunders was charged with having been drunk and disorderly and re-
sisting the police yesterday afternoon, and two of his mates, Joseph Peahoff and John Harrington, with having attempted to rescue him after he was rrreated by Constable McGuire. The case being fully proved, Saunders was fined 10s, and the other two 20s each.
