Thb schooner Aspasia, Captain Johnson, arrived in harbour this day, at 9.30 a.m., from Wellington, in ballast. Messrs M'Meckan Blackwood and Co.'s s.g. Omeo, Capt. Calder, sailed for Melbourne, via Wellington and West Coast ports, yesterday, at 10.10 p.ra. Thb b.b. Wainui, Capt. Leys, arrived in harbour this moiling, at 9 o'clock, from Dunedin, via intermediate ports. She left Port Chalmers at 4 a.m. on the 23rd inst.; arrived at Oamara at 7.30 a.m. same day; sailed again at noon, arriving at Timaru at 6.30 p.m.; sailed on the 24th at midnight, and arrived at Akaroa at 11.30 a.m. on the 25th. Left at 2 a.m. this day, arriving as above. She had fine weather throughout. The Wainui will sail to-morrow evening for Dunedin via Timaru. The Circular Saw Co.'s s.s. Airedale, A. Kennedy, commander, arrived in harbour yesterday, at 1.15 p.m., from the North. She cleared the Manukau Heads at 4 p.m. on the 18th instant, and arrived at Taranaki at 4 a.m. on the 19fch ; had a very heavy sea and wind from the north during the trip ; landed passengers and part of cargo, and railed at 9 a.m., arriving at Nelson at 11 p.m. ; landed a number of passengers, and sailed from Nelson at 11 a.m. on the 21st, arriving ;at Picton at 6 p.m.; landed cargo, and, after taking on board passengers, left at 7.30 a.m. .on the 22nd ; had light head winds across rthe Straits, and arrived alongside the Wellington wharf at noon same day. On the 24th, started on excursion trips, Rnd conveyed the volunteers to and from the Hutt. Sailed for Lyttelton at 7.30 p.m., arriving as above, having experienced light winds during the passage. Reports a number of whales at the entrance of Tory Channel, and eight boats being out. We are indebted to the purser, Mr A. K. Adams, for files. The Airedale sailed at 3.45 p.m. yesterday for Ofcago.
