THE SUPERINTENDENCY.
THE NOMINATION. The nomination of candidates for the! Superintendency took place at noon to-day, ] in the New Town Hall, in the presence of a large number of people. Punctual to the hour, Dr Donald read the writ, nnd called on the electors to nominate candidates. Mr Rhodes, in a brief speech, which must have been very imperfectly heard in the body of the Hall, proposed Mr W. Rolleston as a fit and proper person for Superintendent. (Cheers and dissent.) j Mr J. Anderson, who was received with great applause, seconded the nomination of Mr Kolleston in a short speech. (Cheers ) After a slight pause, Mr A. C. Knight came forward and proposed Mr W. S. Moorhouje. (Applause.) Mr Sawtell, who was received with cheers, seconded the nomination of Mr Moorhouse. Mr Wynn Williams then came forward and addressed those present. Mr Jebson spoke iv favour of Mr Moorhouse. The candidates then addressed the electors, when a show of bauds was called for. The show of hands was declared to be in favour of Mr Moorhouse. A poll was demanded on behalf of Mr Rolleston.
