Robbery from the Person.— James - Donoghue. alias James Wilson, a professional shoe black, was .brought up in custody, charged with having stolen ' a purse contain- . ing £2 from the right-hand coat pocket of a shearer named -William Russell. The prosecutor, it would appear, got into conversation with prisoner whilst in a state of intoxication yesterday afternoon, and shortly afterwards missed his purse. Mr W. H. Barry was fortunately in the vicinity at the time, . and saw prisoner take it, immediately after ' running away. No purse or money was .found on. the prisoner when arrested, but th&Bencb considered the evidence conclusive, ' and there being, a previous conviction- for . larceny against him, sentenced him to six months' imprisonment at hard labour.
