"Wellington, Jan. 17, 7.50 p.m. The Daily Advertiser, a new paper, was published this morning; circulation gratis. The Victorian Sugar Company has sent down an agent to investigate the alleged poisoned sugar. He ascertained that the poison was caused by leakage from a quantity of cases of patent carbolic acid sheep-dipping composition imported in the same steamer by Levin and Co.
