♦- The children attending these schools were recently examined in ttie various branches of education by the Key.C. Bo wen and the Rev G. J. Choluiondeley. The prizes wera distributed by the Key J. O'Bryen tloare, who addressed the children, lie remarked that the school had not made the progress he had anticipated, but that was to a great extent owing to the change of masters. tj^Tlie following are the names of the recipients of the first and second prizes in each class, with the number of marks gained : — Girls. Class I. — Caroline Allen, 39 ; Mary Ballinger, 33. Class ll.— Edith Causey, 29 ; Frances Peters. 27. Class 111. — Margaret Parkinson, 22 ; Jessie Macdonuld, 21.
