FRANCE.
The twenty-sixth of October passed over without any disturbance. Twenty thousand foreigners left Paris. One hundred and twenty thousand soldiers were under arms, commanded by four Marshals, held the city. The Emperor gave orders from the Tuilleries. He attended the opera in the evening and was loudly cheered. Ministerial modifications are rumoured, but none announced. Marshal Bazaine is appointed to the command of the Imperial Guard. Serious agitations have occurred at Autin, near Orleans. la a conflict with the troops fourteen miners were killed and twenty-two wounded. A sanguinary conflict occurred between the police and people at Bellevue. In Paris eight thousand shopmen have struck againat long hours and email wages. Co-operative stores have been established.
The Emperor has promised to visit Russia next year. Prince Metternich was wounded in a duel with Count Beaumont.
