Nelsok, Dec. 27, 11.23 a.m. The Provincial Government has instructed a surveyor to proceed tomorrow, to ascertain the exact line between Mount Arthur and Mount Owen, really for the purpose, as admitted by the Provincial Secretary, of enabling the purchasers of land at Wangapeka, to go into Court and bring evidence supplied by the Government. This conduct is considered unjust, until the decision of the General Government is received on Mr Domett'a report. Being thus precipitate, while matters are still in abeyance, is the same as sending up Mr Warden Broad to Wangapeka, while they knew that a petition was in the hands of the. General Government. It is understood that it will be proposed to extend the boundary of the goldfields to the Motueka river, or thereby. Therefore, it is argued, there is uo need to take Mount Owen into account. The thing looks as if the Provincial Government were identifying itself with the purchasers. Mr Domett'is decision was not on a question of boundary, but that auriferous laud had been illegally sold as rural. •
