Bowen, Esq., B.M.J , Dbcnxenness.— John Buckman, for having been drunk and incapable yesterday, was fined 10s, or, in default, ordered to be locked up for twenty-four hours.— Robert Oldman, for the same offence, was dismissed with a caution, it being his first appearance. — John Ford was brought up for having been drunk and disorderly yesterday. Being his fourth offence of the kind within six months, he was sentenced to fourteen days' imprisonment at hard labour. Desertion.— James Smith, on remand for deserting from the 18th Regiment, was further remanded until Saturday week, pending instructions from head-quarters. - - Robbeby fbom thb Person, — Catherine Greaves, a young well-dressed unfortunate, was charged with having stolen a sum of £8, on Tuesday night" last, from the person of Thomas L*wiß, Leestori. -- Prosecutor had stopped at prisoner's house on. the night named, and having a large sum of money on him, marked a. portion of it, so as to be in a position to identify it if he was robbed. Next morning he missed the whole of the money, and subsequently received one of the marked shillings from a cabman, who had driven prisoner during Wednesday, and to whom she had paid three shillings. A further portion of .the money as described by the prosecutor was also traced to a woman named McLeod, to whom she had given it on the Wednesday morning, and to whom she also showed six or J seven notes and some silver, saying that she « had made a rise of £10 from a man the pre-j| vious night. Altogether, the evdidence wa^| very conclusive, and the prisoner was committed to take her trial at the next session of ihe Supreme Court.
