His sire, Shales, the property of tbe late W. Wright, Esq., Fring; his dam, a superior mare called Beauty, bred and hunted by the Rev. Minus, by Cannell's Old Lord of the Manor. Gr. sire, that celebrated horse Mr Powell's Black Shales, dam by Emilius. G. gr. sire, Chadd's Shales, bred by the late Captain Ogden, of WalliDgton, from his noted trotting mare. G. g. gr. sire, Old Marshland Shales, tbe champion of all trotters. SHALES is a rich bay, with black points, four years old, stands sixteen bands high, with great substance, splendid temper and constitutiou, and inherits the blood-like qualities of his ancestors, with first-rate trotting action. The colts got by the grand old Imng horse are unequalled by the stock of any other horse in the United Kingdom, in proof of which one dealer alone, in the County of Norfolk, purchased (for the London market) over one hundred of them, averaging £100 each.
