Timaru, Thia Dav. A working men's meeting was held last evening. Resolutions were unanimously passed condemning the action of the Board of Works, and requesting the Superintendent to spend the allocated money by a Commissioner ; 160 ratepayers were present. Wellington, Oct. 15, 7.37 p.m. The New Zealand Steam Company's half-yearly balance sheet shows a net profit balance of £622, including a profit of £673, made on the sale of the coal agency for McMeckan'a steamers. £30,409 still stands to debit of profit and loss depreciation account. A movement in favour of winding up has again commenced. The Wellington sailed from the heads at one o'clock.
