LATEST AUSTRALIAN NEWS. Bltjff, Sept. 19, 5 p.m. The Gothenburg arrived at 2 p.m. to-day ; left Melbourne at 2 p.m. on the Mth, and experienced fine weather during the passage. The Gothenburg will sail for Dunedin to-morrow night. Passengers for Dunedin— Messrs Bennett, M'Goud and Brown ; 85 steerage, including Gi Chinese ; and 80 tons cargo. JFor Lyttelton — 33 tons cargo. Melbottkste, Sept. 14. Father Niall, charged with commiting an unnatural offence, was committed for trial, but allowed bail. Kinnealy the pardoned Fenian sailed for Adelaide, but was not allowed to land. Strong sympathy was expressed: The late J. P. Fawkner received a public funeral, thousands being present. George Rolfe is the candidate for Mr Fawkner's vacant seat. . A want of confidence motion comes on to-night. The Magistrates dismissed the libel case, Dr Jordan against the Age newspaper. The Sydney Metropolitan Handicap was won by Circassian, an outsider. Circassian is entered for the Melbourne Cup. Breadstuff's are very firm. Flour is quoted at £17.
