WATERING THE STREETS.

TO THE KDITOR OF THE STAB. Sin, —Can you inform me what has become of those water-carts which were to have kept Christchurch in a constant state of mud ? This is the second or third rery dustyday we have had, and they have not yet ma4e their appearance.

I have often thought that if one or two of i the men were allowed to take the small flreengine and a few lengths of hose, they could keep a considerable amount of dust down with the water from the fountains in front of the White Hart and City Hotels. Your obedient servant, A CONSTANT READER. Christchurch, Aug. 30.
