Napieb, July 15, 6.10 p.m. A native letter from Taupo states that Kooti has gone to visit the King. It is rumoured that his purpose is to ! endeavour to induce the King to join i the rebellion. The St. Kilda is expected on Sunday, with the Constabulary, from Waikare 'Moana, their destination being Te Haroto. Kooti has been joined by Eewi, of the Ngatimaniapoto, with a force of 500 men; 200 Taupo Hau-haus havo also joined. If Kooti is unsuccessful with the King he will ask Tito Kowaru to join him. 200 Arawas have attacked Kooti, ahd took one prisoner, who corroborate this information. Wellington, July 15, 7.55 p.m. The Government have called on Major Brown either to resign his seat in the House, or the command of the Taranaki Militia, in consequence of his having voted against them in the recent division. He declined to accept either alternative, and the Government then intimated their intention to remove him, but gave the option of resigning.
