Drunkenness — John Cope was charged ><-ith having been drunk and exposing his person in Cathedral Square, yesterday afternoon. He admitted the offence, and pleaded nothing in extenuation. His Worship remarked that it was only a short time since he had been dismissed with a caution for being drunk, and he would now be fined 20s, or in default, 48 hour's imprisonment. Mary Ann Greaves was brought up for having been drunk and disorderly, and using abusive language in a public thoroughfare yesterday. It had appeared that she had only been a few hours out of gaol, where she had undergone twelve months' imprisonment.and she solicited the leniency of the bench on tliat account. His Worahip said he had been in the habit of dismissing cases under such circumstances with a caution, but he found that it began to be abused, and it must be put a stop to. Prisoner would be fined 20s, or in default of payment, 48 hour's imprisonment.
