♦ Electoral. — The Returning Officer has announced that the nomination for the election of a member for the city of Christchurch in the Provincial Council, will take place on June 3, the poll, if necessary, on June 4. Avonside Wesleyan Church. — The second of the series of select readings, lectures, &c, the proceeds of which are to he devoted towards paying the debt on the Avonside Wesleyan Church, will take place this evening in the school-room, Durham street. The Rev A. Reid will deliver a lecture, the subject being "Genesis and Geology."
