NEW ADVERTISEMENTS. CHAPLAINCY OF THB CHRISTCHURCH HOSPITAL, GAOL, AND LUNATIC ASYLUM. L A COMMITTEE has been formed for the xV. purpose or raising funds for the maintenance of a Chaplain of the Christchurch Hospital, Gaol, and Lunatic Asylum. It seems hardly necessary to dwell on the extreme importance of providing regular Spiritual ministrations for the inmates. of these institutions ; and these it is impossible to se • cure, except by the appointment of one Clergyman responsible for, and able to give his whole time to these dutieCJ Thoße who are blessed with 1 health of iriTna and body, and are for the most part, by education and circumstances, placed beyond the temptation to the commission of crime, cannot better show their thankfulness for these blessings, than by belping to make provision for the Spiritual wants of the Patients, Criminals, and Lunatics in our. public institutions. It is earnesly hoped that nothing may prevent Christians of every communion* and all benevolent persons, from joining in this charitable work. It is proposed that an Annual Stipend of not less than JB3OO should be provided; of which amount the ■ Church Property Trustees -will contrbute £50 annually. The appointment of the Chaplain will rest with the Bishop of Christchurch. ■ ■ Subscriptions and donations are earnestly solicited towards'' this object. The following is the list of subscribers up to the present dafe. „ - Subscription lists are lying at all the Banks, and at the office of Messrs. Miles *nd Co.
