CHRISTCHURCH. Tins Dat. (Before T. W. Maude, Esq ) Drunkenness and Riotous Conduct. — Margaret Bowen, Emma Bennett, and Fanny Harding were brought up in custody, charged with having been drunk and disorderly in a licensed house. Frem the evidence, it appeared that yesterday afternoon tbey went to the Criterion Hotel, and, b *oming noisy, were ordered to le .ye, but would not until measures were taken for forcibly ejecting them. "When outside, however they would not go away, but p eed backwards and forwards in ";*ont of the building, and used most abusive and obscene language, until the police were sent for. They had previously been guilty of similar offences, and the assistance of the Bench was asked in putting down such conduct, as it was highly injurious to the business of the hotel. The prisoners made rambling statements in contradiction, but the apprehending constable proved that all of them were violent and noisy on the way to the watch-house, and Sergeant Jeffrey proved to their being so on arrrival at the Depot. 'J he first two prisoners, as tbe most frequent
offenders, were fined £1 each, and Harding 108, severe reprimands being administered in each case.
