Mr Jones has been expelled from the Assembly, after three days' debate. The charges against Mr Butler are now under discussion. During the debate about Mr Jones, a savage attack was made on the Government by Mr Fellows, causing a scene in the House. Mr M'Culloch has explained why the new Loan had not succeeded in London. He said it was owing to the instructions not having been understood by the agent. He thinks the Loan can be raised in the colonies. The Hurricane, ship, from Liverpool, has foundered in the Bay. The Investigator is laying the cable in Bass Straits. The Eoman Catholic "Provincial Council met last Suuday ; the deliberations have been carried on daily since. John Bunton, saddler, Geelong, has committed suicide. The Ice Company has declared a dividend of 12£ per cent. The Chinese interpreter at Castlemaine has been found guilty of receiving bribes from gambling houses. The Victoria Fire Insurance Co. has declared a dividend of £3 per share. The price of live stock is advancing. Flour is quoted at £13 nominal ; no transactions beyond trade requirements. Kerosine commands high rates. Teas are dull. Colonial produce is higher. I Sidney/, April 21. Last quarter's returns shew a decrease iv the yield of gold. The single wicket match was won by Victoria. Western Wood, of Bo wen, has been arrested for the embezzlement of Government moneys. The Mayor received a presentation of silver services before leaving for Europe. Adelaide, April 21.
