CRICKET.

Town v. Country. This, the last match of the' season, was commenced at eleven o'clock yesterday, in Hagley Park, the Country team having the assistance of Mr Glasgow, of Otago notoriety. The County first took possession of the wickets, and made a good show, the total of the inninga amounting to 106. The batting of Messrs Barker, W. Alington, Dickinson, and Glasgow being particularly good, the latter more especially playing a very fine innings. The Town commenced their innings at balfpast two, Harley and Cotterill batting to Murray and Dickenson, the former being bowled the second ball. Cotterill, by good play, reached 42, and was then dismissed by Wright with a very easy ball. Mainwaring was stumped off the next ball. Wood und Fowler got together, and killed the bowling, Wood eventually losing his bails to Murray after a very well obtained 40 ; Dawe marked 16, and when play ceased; the Town eleven headed their opponents by 101 runs, Fowler bringing out his bat for a well-got 77.
