, . CHRISTCIIURCII. I This Day. ; (Before C. C. Bowen, Esq., K.M.) Drunkenness. — Morris Ford was brought up, charged with being drunk and disorderly, and creating a disturbance, by wanting to fight passers- by in Oxford terrace, yeaterd_ay ; . The offence was proved, and there being several other convictions against him, a fine of 40s was imposed, or, in default, 96 hours' imprisonment. Desbrtiox. — John Vickery was charged, on the information of Edward Hurry, with having deserted two of his children. Informant stated that accused hft the children in his charge eleven weeks ago, but, after paying for their support for six weeks, had ceased to send money, and fiad not been near the house since." Accused, in defence, stated that he had been at work up country, and having sustained;:* severe accident, wasineapacitated from visiting the children, but had endeavoured to communicate with them through his mother. He had no intention of deserting then?.. His Worship dismissed, the case ,on tlie'understandirig that accused was'at onxip to pay the amount due "for- the maintenance of the chUdrep, and, that if. he r left .them sp long 1 unattended to'again, -the offence would be treated as desertion.
