High Water— April 16, 7.04 a.m.; 7.29 p.m.

The. p.s. Betsy Douglas has received a thorough overhaul, and is runuing as usual to Pigeon Bay. ' The s.s. Gazelle was taken on to Messrs Flett and Loutitt's slip to; repair damage, ■when it was found that one of the rivets had given way and had thus caused the leak. The schooner Excelsior, Captain Smith, arrived in harbour yesterday; 'from Napier ; left on Saturday, 2nd instaut ; when 6 days out was blown back again by the heavy south-east gale ; left again on the 9th, and experienced baffling winds up to arrival. The s.s. Ahuriri, Captain Flowerday, ariu harbour yesterday morning at 9.30 from Dunedin ; left Port Chalmers at a quarter to 1 1 on Tuesday, and experienced fine weather. We are indebted to the Captain for files. The steamer sailed for Wellington and Northern ports with a full cargo yesterday, at G p.m. The ketch Jupiter, Captain Chapman, arrived in harbour yesterday, from Picton ; left on Tuesday 30th ult.. with light northerly ■winds, which carried her as far as Motanau, on Friday 2nd inst. the wind changed to S.W., which freshened into a strong gale ; liove the vessel head to east for 5 days ; on Sunday the 4th during the gale, a squall hove iihe vessel down on beam ends, smashing lier bulwarks and sweeping her decks, on the vessel righting, there was 2ft 6in water in. her hold ; on the 6th the weather moderated, and the Captain bore up for Port Under--wood for water ; left that port on Friday last, and experienced baffling winds ever «ince. The vessel is bound to- Dunedin, but lias put in for repairs.
