<» _ A meeting of the committee of the Chamber of Commerce was held yesterday afternoon. Present — Messrs Aynsley (chairtnan), Gould, Coster, Honnah, Richardson, Inglis, Nathan, Palmer, Cobb, Twentyman, W. H. Hargreaves, W. Montgomery, and Graham. The Secretary read the usual annual letter from the Provincial Secretary, asking for information with regard to the price of provisions. It was resolved that the information should be furnished to the Government as requested. A letter was read from the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, enclosing resolutions against the adoption of a uniform tariff by New Zealand and Australia. As no communication has yet been from Australia, consideration of the subject was deferred, the Secretary being directed to acknowledge the letter received from the Auckland Chamber. The Chairman stated that there was a credit balance of £62 8s lOd. The meeting adjourned after passing some accounts.
