I The s.s. Egmont sailed for Wellington and Sydney at 1.30 this afternoon. The schooner Dancing Wave arrived in harbour yesterday e v ening from Timaru, with a cargo of wool consigned to Messrs Miles and Co. The schooner Wild Wave arrived in harbour this morning from Pakihi ; left that port on Thursday, Feb. 4 ; experienced light head winds throughout the passage. ' J^Tue ship blue Jacket completed her loading on Saturday morning. The shipping of the last bale of wool was celebrated with the usual honou?|7 The ship will probably clear the Customer to-morrow, and will sail on Thursday. &, Thb fine sMp Matoaka, Captain Stevens, arrived off the Head* this morning, after a passage of 87 das|yf The s.s. Moa was chartered to take tfte Health Officers down to the ship, but had not returned when our express left. The barque Collingwood arrived in harbour on Saturday, at 4 p.m. from Newcastle, via Dunedin ; left the latter port on Wednesday at 10 p.m., experiencing strong northerly winds. The barque has a cargo of coals consigned to Messrs Pavitt and Co. By an order recently issued by the Superintendent all vessels from any foreign port must be boarded first by the health officer appointed ; any person hoarding a vessel before the officer has been off, and passed her as free, is now liable to a penalty of fifty founds; any foreign vessel arriving in port having had a death on hoard within thirty days of arrival will be ordered into quarantine The schooner Streamlet, Captain Donnelly, arrived in harbour this morning at 1 1 o'clock, from Picton. Left that port on Monday, Jan. 31 ; experienced light northerly winds till off Cape Campbell, when it came on a strong S.E. gale ; put into Port Underwood ; since then, had light head winds till arrival. The . Streamlet hauled into the screw-pile jetty, to discharge her cargo of timber. Thk Panama Company's steamship Egmont,' John Vine Hall, junr., commander,, arrived here yesterday, at 3.30 p.m., from Port Chalmers and the Bluff, having been delayed at the former port for six days awaiting the arrival of the Phoebe with the Panama mail, which arrived on the morning of the 3rd. The Egmont left at 2 p.m. for the Bluff, . arriving there at 9 am. the next day, left again at 5 p.m. the same day, ex'-* periencing fine weather and fair winds lip to the time of her" arrival at Port Chalmers at 9 a.m. on the sth; left again the next day at G p.m., experiencing fair winds and fine weather, arriving as above. We are obliged to the purser for files. The clipper schooner * wallow, Captain J. Foster, arrived in harbour on Saturday at 5.30 p m., from Levuka, Fiji Islands, The following is an account of her voyage:— On Monday, Jan. 11, got under weigh at 9 a.m., with steady breeze from N.E.; at 4 p.m. barometer commenced falling; at 10 p.m. the wind had increased to a strong gale, with heavy rain; close reefed all sails; on the 12th, hove-to under close reefed mainsail; heavy cross sea running, and the schooner labouring heavily and shipping seas; at 12 midnight a complete hurricaue, with sheets of rain, accompanied with lightning, wind S.S.E.; 6 a.m., barometer 29 deg 50 sec; at 7 a.m. gale decreased slightly, sea very heavy; 7.30 sighted Kentavy Island, bearing N W., about 6 miles distant ; 13th, another heavy S.S.E. gale, Kentavy Island bearing to N.E., stood to southward and westward; the gale decreased at midnight; 14th, strong breeze, wore ship to S.E.; at noon sighted Mount Washington, bearing E.N.E., distant about 25 miles, lat. 19 deg. 19 sec. S., long. 177 deg. 35 sec. E. Fine weather, was afterwards experienced up to the 29th, when the East Cape was passed at a distance of 35 miles, weather squally, with strong breeze from the N.E.; 30th, passed Portland Island bearing N.W. by N., and at noon Cape Kidnapper bearing W. by N,, 15 miles distant; 31st, had thick hazy weather; 2 a.m., lightning and thunder and heavy rain; 8 a.m. passed Cape Turn Again; Feb. 3, thick hazy weather; passed Cape Palliser at noon, bearing W.N.W.; 4th, 8 a.m., strong gale from N.W. with heavy sea running; on the sth the weather moderated, and arrived as above. The Swallow brings a cargo of cotton consigned to Mr E. Recce ; also, a few cases of oranges, lemons, pine apples, and Fiji curiosities. The following vessels were at Levuka loading: - Magellan Cloud, Susannah Booth, and Lapwing; the latter was ex eeted to leave in a fortnight after the Swallow, for this port and Dunedin.
