CHRISTCHURCH. This Day. (Before C. C. Bowen, Esq., R.M.) Cattle Trespass. — The following fines were inflicted for cattle found trespassing within the boundaries of the city, Michael Wyatt, ss; James M'Kenzie, two in foi-na-tions, 5s ; Thomaß Price, 20s ; and James Dearsley, ss. Breaches of the Hackney Cahkiage Ordinance — Henry Dodd was charged with having carried three passengers in a hansom cab, the same only being licensed for two. lhe offence was proved by Constable O'Connor, and a fine of 10s imposed. Walter Hartnall, for leaving. his licensed cab unattended in Oxford Terrace, on the 18th inst.. was fined 10s. A. llammil for a similar offence, was also fined 10s, and he was further charged with driving a hansom cab, early on the morning of the 17th inst., without lights. Constable Wallace gave affirmatory evidence, and added that accused was intoxicated. Accuced denied the offence, and said that he could prove another man was driving his cab on that occasion. His Worship adjourned the case for a week, in order that he might have the opportunity of producing rebutting evidence. Breach of the Stage Carriage Pibdi nance. — J Cowan admitted having carried an excess of passengers in his licensed coach, and was fined 10s. Licenses.— The following

applications for slaughter-house lecenses were granted :— Thos. Barrett, River 'HalsweTF; Clarkson Brothers, Wilson's Bridge ; T. Clarkson,; section near the Heathcote Mills ; H. Washbourne, Riccarton road ; C. F. Williams, Lake Ellesmere ; J. Grigg, Riccarton losd ; C. Withell, near Leeston.
