[by electbic telegraph.] Wellington, Jan. 24, 5.15 p.m. Mr Henderson, of the firm of Henderson and Macfarlane, of Auckland, baa concluded the purchase of the Phoebe. Having now three steamers, tbey will try to get the Panama Company's inter-provincial mail contract transferred to them, and if so, no new tenders need be called for, the inter-provincial service remaining as now, and the inter-colonial service being monthly between "Wellington and Melbourne. The Mataura sailed at midnight for ' England. The wreck of the Taranaki is advertised for sale by auction early next month. The Anniversary Regatta was very successful j the majority of the prizes, including Shaw, Saville, and Co.'s cup, were won by the Star Boating Club. There is no sign of the Panama mail. The inter-provincial boats will sail to-morrow afternoon, if it does not arrive before.
