Black Hawk, schooner. Volunteer, schooner. Jupiter, ketch. Gipsy, ketch. The s.s. Beautiful Star saMed for Wellington this afternoon. The schooner Canterbury sailed for Hokitika this rooming, with a cargo of grain. The. s.s. Tararua, Captain Ferguson, sails for Wellington and Melbourne this evening, carrying the E :glish Suez mail. The schooner J. B. Russell hauled in to the screw-pile jetty this morning to discharge .feer cargo of timber. The s.s. Tararua, formerly belonging to the Panama Company, arrived in harbour yesterday at 10.30 a.m. from Melbourne, via Bluff and Dunedin, under the well known flag of the M.A. and NZ. Company, which firm has lately purchased her, as well as the steamers Rangitoto and Claud Hamilton. Jsince passing into the hands of the above company she has undergone an external retiovation. The Tararua brings three saloon -and six steerage passengers, and 3l tons cargo for this port, and has on board a large cumber of passengers for other ports. She left Hobson's Bay on the afternoon of the jjt6th inst., and cleared Port Phillip heads at $ p.m. Swan sland was passed at 4 p.m. ■jiext day. Fresh S.E. winds were experienced •for the first three days, and brisk S. and S.W. breezes for the remainder of the passage. The Solander was passed at 8 a.m. on the 21st, and the Bluff Wharf was reached at 2 p m., thus making a fine run of 4 days 18 hours allowing for difference of time. The Tararua arrived at Port Chalmers at 5.40 p.m. on the 22nd, leaving again at 5.10 p.m. on the 23rd, arriving as above. Capt. JFerguson, who formerly had the command of the Tararua for the Panama Company, is again in charge, and her late commander, Capt. Hagley is appointed to the Rangitoto. Mr Heaton, who has been attached for a long time as purser to several of the Panama Company steamers, now fills a like position in the Tararua. To this gentleman we are indebted for complete files.
