WE, the undersigned, believing the state of public affairs in this colony to be full of peril :—that the war at present existing will entail additional burdens on the people, already taxed to the utmost limit :— that the present excessive taxation paralyses the best efforts of the colonists, and prevents intending emigrants from coming to these shores : and believing, also, that the Colonia Government and the General Assembly, as constituted, can neither legislate for, nor administer satisfactorily, the affairs of the oolony— Hereby form ourselves into AN ASSOCIATION' With the following objects in view . — To , return Members to the House of Representatives' pledged to vote against war expenditure for the sub jugation of the native race.
