London, Nov. 6. Her Majesty the Queen returned frotr Balmoral yesterday. The Crown Princess of Prussia has arrived in England, and is staying at St Leonards. The Prince and Princess of Wales are about to visit Denmark, intending to visit Greece and the Nile afterwards. form of Government in Spain is ~~ yet chosen. Queen Isabella is . at Paris. The Provisional Gojrninent has been recognised by several States of Europe. . ' Reverdy Johnson, American Ambassador, was entertained at Liverpool on Oct. 22. Lord Stanley and Mr Gladatone were present. Mr Johnson was very friendly ; he said that America desired to be at peace with England. Mr Gladstone has issued an address to the electors of South Lancashire, in which he attacks the Irish Church with the greatest vehemence. He intends also to make speeches at various towns in Lancashire on the issues before the country. Parliament is to be dissolved on the 11th instant; writs for the new elections to be issued immediately. At the Newmarket Houghton Meetj, the Cambridgeshire Stakes were on by See Saw.

It is rumoured that there will be no Derby next year, Mr Studd, the owner of a portion of the course, being; unable to agree with the Grand Stand committee aa to the rent to be paid. Mr Studd demanded a bonus of £2500 and £2000 annually. The matter is not yet settled. Tenders for New South Wales Grovernment Loan of £1,000,000, bearing interest at 5 per cent, were invited by Kothschild and the London Branch of the Bank of New South "Wales. Tenders were opened on Oct. 21, and the total amount applied for was £3,659,400. The highest tender was for a small sum at 102. Tenders for South Australian Government 6 per cent loan for £-100,000 were opened on the 14th ultimo at the Bank of South Australia. The attendance was numerous, and more than £2,500,000 was tendered for. A meeting of the Panama, New Zealand, and Australian R.M. Co. was held on Oct. 22, the Hon. Eden Colville in the chair. The report of the Joint Committee of Shareholders and Creditors was unanimously adopted and referred back to the committee to take all necessary steps for carrying out the recommendations therein contained, with such modications as the committee board might suggest. The A'chbishop of Canterbury died at Addington Park on Oct. 27. His successor is not yet appointed. Humour says that Dr Jackson, present Bishop of Lincoln, will be the successful candidate. Rossini, the celebrated composer, is said to be dying. Mr Buxtons solicitors have written a letter to the papers stating that Mr Buxton never meant to have had Mr Eyre hanged, even if he were condemned, and that he had offered money to Phillips to cease from bis action against the ex- Governor. Sir John Pakington rep'ied moderately. An influential meeting was held at the Guildhall on the 13th, to take steps for the relief of the sufferers by the recent earthquakes at Ecuador and Peru ; £7000 were subscribed. Election riots took place at Blackburn on Monday last. The Conservatives electors got possession of the poll booths, but were driven away by the Irishmen. The Conservatives however regained them, aud the efforts of the police to restore order were powerless. They charged the mob, when several of the force were seriously injured. Another detachment of police arrived with sabres, which at last restored order. The rioting was afterwards renewed in the centre of the town so fiercely that the Mayor was obliged to call out the military. Thirty persons are reported to have been injured ; one man has since died.
