ST. JOHN'S SCHOOL.
♦ The Christmas examination took place on Thursday last, and the prizes were distributed by the Rev F. Knowles on Monday evening. The children were addressed by the Revs F. Knowles, Bagshaw, and Hoare; and after the distribution cheers were given for the master and mistress, the examiners, the head of the school, &c. The following is a list of those who received prizes : — (Girls.) Class I — Kate Frow, 1 ; Caroline Allen, 2 ; Harriett Erskine, 2. Class ll.— Jane Falloon, 1 ; Eleanor Gee, 2. Class III — Caroline Wykes, 1; Frances Peters, 2. Class IV— Martha Brown, 1 ; Mary Harrison, 2. Class V. — Rosa Frow, 1 ; Leonora Erskine, 2. Needlework— Harriett Erskine, 1 ; Amelia Martin, 2. (Boys.) Class I — William Edgar, 1; Barton Pye, 2; William Mould, extra prize, given by Rev F. Knowles. Class II — Horace Gates, 1 ; George Jones, 2; Thomas Reader, extra prize given by Rev F. Knowles. Class lll— Charles Anderson, 1; George Turner, 2. Class IV — John Andrews, 1 ; Phillip Ball, Class V — Walter Frow, 1 ; Henry Mann, 2. Class VI — John Milne, 1 ; Richard Green, 2 Clas3 Vll— Thomas Milne, E. J. Wykes, John Mould, J. Jenkins, prizes.
