CHRISTCHURCH WESLEYAN SCHOOL.
The Rev R. Bavin, in the absence of the Bey T. Buddie, examined the school very briefly in the presence of several of the parents and friends. The prizes, however, were awarded according to a thorough examination by the teachers themselves. Seventy three volumes were given away to j seventy- three children, no scholar beint: allowed to take more than one prize. This was managed by the master putting the marks obtained for the various branches into one sum, and awarding the Ist prize to the scholar with the highest total number, and so on. The school comprises five classes, the fifth, of course, being the most advanced. The following were the successful competitors :— Fifth Class— lst Division — Tho.s. J. G. Rutland, 1 ; Fredk. J. Fourth Class — 2nd Division — Charles Pearce, 1; William Rowan, 2; George Stokes, 1 3; Henry Lucas, 4; William Slnde, 5; Hobert Cant, 6; William Bannister, 7.
