ARRIVED. :Dec. 18 — Gazelle, s.s., M'Lellan, from Lytt elton, in ballast. SAILED. Dec. 17 — Foam, ketch, Aschmann, for . Akaroa, in ballast.
V On Tuesday morning the schooners Rose of Sden and Dart, which were lying at the har, > encouraged by a calm sea and S.W. wind, set sail. Before they had gone far, however, the wind chopped to the eastward, sending them both ashore on the north spit close together. On Wednesday morning, by throw- • ing over the greater part of the Dart's cargo of wheat, she was got off and back again into the river, with but little injury to the vessel. Her cargo, we ■understand, is insured. v In spite of every exertion, the Rose still lies uponthe spit, the water rising and falling in her n^PJ An attempt was to l»e made to-day to throw out the remainder of her cargo, which is uninsured, and by nHing her with empty casks, and tanks to .float lu;r off.
