A large schooner named the Emilius, or Emulgries, from Halifax to Lyttelton or Wellington, with passengers, was spoken by the ' Bad Rover on Nor. 21— all well. A forged cheque, for £1500, on the National Bank, was .presented for payment about a month ago. The forgery, has just been discovered; there is no clue to the culprit. . Leave has been granted by the Victorian Government to Captain Stack to recruit in the colony for New Zealand. X^Mr Bruce, clerk in the Customs, levanted by the Tararua [since captured at Wellington.] His defalcations amount to about £4000. His principal victims are two of his fellow officers in the Customs. The Steam Navigation Board have concluded their inquiry into the case of collision between the s.s. Alexandra and the schooner Cleopatra. They have suspended the certificate of the second officer, Mr Eegnart, late chief mate of the South Australian and Hero. Sugars have advanced 60a per ton. Advices from Mauritius state that sugar is so scarce there and so high, that the orders on hand cannot be executed. Sydney, Dec. 2. The Panama Company have declared that the llakaiu is the last steamer which shall leave Sydney for Panama. The steamer due next' month i will be, the last from Panama. The Mataura proceeds to Melbourne, thence -to ' London direct vi& Cape Horn. The other steamers will follow.
