FIRE IN TIMARU.
THE WHOLE TOWN SWEPT.
[BY ELECTUIC TELEGRAPH.] Oi.MAEU, This Daj, 2 p.m. K. Yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock, a fire broke out in Cain aud Munro's premises, at the north end of Timaru, ancl burned furiously before a strong north-wester, till half-past 6, destroying all the principal buildings of the town. Ainoug the rest may be named the premises of — Munro's furniture warehouse. Knight, painter. Wood, saddler. Solomon, draper. Seymour, watchmaker. Jacobs, watchmaker. Brskine, grocor. Watkins, chemist. Clarkson & Turnbull, general store. Beldy, barber. Butler, chemist. Horton & Belfield, office Timaru Herald. Bilton, bookseller. Byrne, private residence. Stubbs and King, butcher, shop and ■ residence. Morgan, baker. Mouutford, photographer. Melton, stables aud residence. Fraser, butcher. Pogijuisky, barber. M'Kae, Club Hotel. Sfcubbs and King, butcher, shop No. 2. Post Office. Telegraph Office. Bank of New Zealand. No lives have been lost, as far as has yet been entertained, but very little property has been saved.
