[by electbic telegbaph.] Wellington, Nov. 28, 7.55 p.m. With reference to the eight kegs of ammunition captured by the Hauhaus, it seems that the guard, consiating of pakehas and natives, apparently bolted, as no mention is made of any killed or wounded in the Government telegram. At Kangitikei Mr Fox and others, after renewed investigation, are thoroughly satisfied that the letter commanding a general rising of the natives, and alleged to have been issued by order of the king, was not authorised by him. Wi Hapi and other noted Hauhaus also declare that they know nothing about it, which they would have done had the news been genuine. An open air meeting has been called by the Superintendent, in compliance with a requisition for Tuesday next, to express sympathy with the sufferers by the Maori war. The Presbyterian General Assembly is closed. It will meet at Napier in November, next year.
