Commercial.

vThe Star Office, This Day. Business during the past week has not been so brisk as might have been expected at this season of the year, and has been principally confined to supplying station orders. Part of the Rio's cargo of sugars, from Mauritius via Port Chalmers, and imported hy Mr C. W. Turner, will be offered at auction on Dec. 8, at Mr Turner's stores. The market is but barely supplied, and the shipment ought to find a ready sale at remunerative prices. The Martha, from Frederickstadt, brought a cargo of Baltic timber, wliich will be sent on to Dunedin. Wool is now coming to hand more freely. The Light Brigade has rather more than 1000 bales stowed, and, also, a quantity of flax. She is expected to sail about Christmas. This season's clip of wool will be one of the best, as regards auality, that has been shorn for some years past. " We do not look for any considerable increase in quantity.
