FIGHT AT POVERTY BAY.

THE REBELS DEFEATED. _______ TE KOOTI SUPPOSED TO BE KILLED. This Day, 11 a.m. An engagement took place at Poverty Bay on Nov. 23. Te Kooti is supposed to be killed. Of the friendly Natives 4 have been killed, and 12 wounded. .Neither party can bury their dead. The following telegram relating to the above engagement was received by the Government : — Napier, Nov. 26, 10.57 a.m. ' An engagement took place on the 23rd inst., at Poverty Bay. Te Kooti is supposed to be killed ; more than 20 of the enemy killed. Loss ol Government Natives — 4 killed, 12 1 wounded. Neither party can jbun their dead. Our position is admirably j situated for artillery practice. A man of-Tvar's rocket brigade, with twolighi guns throwing shells, grape, &c, muc! wanted. Donald McLean.
