The Annie, ketch, put into Akaroa on the 23Tth inst., having been driven from Oamaru, by heavy southerly .weather ; she sailed again for the latter Vpojrt on the 18th. At the Court Tiouse/Aiaroa, on Tuesday She 17th inst., after 'the usual business had heen settled, the R.M. stated, on behalf of Mmself^and the other Magistrates, that they
wished, in addition to what had been said on the previous day regarding the wreck of the Crest, to express their admiration of the conduct of those who had assisted in endeavouring to save the shipwrecked men, and at the same time to express their opinion of the conduct of Barker, which they considered dastardly, as, if he had stopped outside the break (and with the assistance of Cunningham who had sworn he could have swam to to him easily) the lives of the other' men might have been saved.
