Affairs in the Waikato are said to be threatening, and the authorities are on the alert. Every one is enquiring what steps the Government is taking, and it has been intimated that the militia will be called out almost everywhere. Enlisting is going on at Hokitika, and in other places. The Hon. John Hall leaves for the South about the 19bh instant. Mr Stafford's return from "Wanganui is anxiously looked for. All kinds of rumours are afloat, which must be received with caution.
